Phase I of the research was done by viewing each studio's website to ascertain as much information about the studio as possible.
Here is what we found out:

 
Top 10 States:
California, New York, Massachusetts, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington, Illinois, Michigan
Top 10 Cities:
New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, Dallas, Denver, Washington DC, San Diego, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Philadelphia

Class Descriptions:
There are over 100 different descriptions for yoga classes.   Classes that included the time of day or studio specific marketing terms were classified within the closest general description.    

11% Flow (flow, gentle flow, hatha flow, vinyasa, or vinyasa flow)
7% Pre-natal/pregnancy
7% Gentle
6% Kids/Teens
6% Restorative/Relaxation
6% Ashtanga/Mysore
5% Meditation
4% Hatha
3% Iyengar
2% Anusara

The remaining 43% included such descriptions as Baptiste, chakra, core, healthy backs, Jivamukti, long, slow & deep, Rocket, slow flow, yin, yoga for Parkinson's and MS, yoga nidra, etc.   
Studios are offering anywhere from 2 to 150 classes per week. On average, studios are offering 24 classes a week.
There are studios that have just 1 teacher to those with over 100.   On average, there are 11 teachers at a studio.

Studio Styles:
72% of the studios in the database are not explicitly affiliated with one particular style of yoga.   For those who are affiliated, the top styles are Bikram 8%, Iyengar 5%, Anuara 3%, and Ashtanga 2%.

Schedules:
78% of studios offer their schedules on a weekly basis
11% offer their schedules seasonally
11% offer classes on another cycle (e.g., semesters, monthly, sessions, series)

Class Levels:
45% of the classes are offered as numbered levels (e.g., 1 to 5 or all levels)
33% of the classes are offered as named levels (e.g., beginner, intermediate, advanced, or some combination thereof)
6% of the classes offered are introductory or fundamentals classes
3% are community classes

The remaining 13% include open studio practice, special needs, privates, and corporate.  

Offerings:
73% offer workshops and events
29% offer teacher training
25% offer other services such as massage
23% have boutiques in their studios
10% offer online registration for classes
9% offer online retail
